If you're catching up on Tuesday's midterm, start with turnout. More than 1.6 million early ballots were cast statewide, and turnout was outpacing 2022. Maricopa County expected about 250,000 people to vote Tuesday, plus another 250,000 early ballots dropped off at polling places.

All 254 Phoenix-area vote centers opened on time at 6 a.m. With more than an hour before the 7 p.m. close, FOX 10 counted more than 211,000 voters in Maricopa County, where waits topped 50 minutes, and checked the lines at Arizona State University. KTAR's live blog put the count at more than 256,000 voters served.

Election Day ran from a 6 a.m. opening to a 7 p.m. close

  1. 6 a.m.All 254 Phoenix-area vote centers opened as scheduled on Nov. 3.
  2. 10:30 a.m.The county reported a high volume of voters at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
  3. 11:30 a.m.The county's map showed a 45-minute wait and more than 120 voters at Chandler-Gilbert.
  4. 5:55 p.m.FOX 10 reported more than 211,000 voters in Maricopa County.
  5. 7 p.m.Polls were scheduled to close across Arizona.
  • Chandler-Gilbert Community College: 45-minute wait, 120-plus voters at 11:30 a.m.
  • Brophy McGee: waits stayed below 10 minutes at 254-plus sites

Not every line moved. Voters at Chandler-Gilbert Community College reported printer trouble, and the county pointed them to Tumbleweed Recreation Center in Chandler or a church on Catalina Street in Gilbert. Still, Board of Supervisors Chair Kate Brophy McGee called the day a “flawless execution”.

Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah Love is headed to injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain

If you follow the Cardinals, plan on a few weeks without their top pick. ESPN and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport announced Tuesday that rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is headed to injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain. Rapoport says he's expected to miss four to five weeks. Love, the No. 3 overall pick in April, limped off late in the first quarter Sunday after his right ankle turned under a defender.

For the last couple of days, I have read numerous posts regarding the poor behavior of Trick or Treaters this year.

“Unfortunately, no one has taken the time to mention the kiddos that were polite, respectful, and having a good time in spite of the rainy weather. Every Trick or Treater that came to our house said Thank you, and most wished us a Happy Halloween. And the younger kids were all accompanied by at least one adult, and…”

The Wrap

A summer-style deluge at the end of October? The National Weather Service's Isaac Smith says what's remarkable about the heavy rain Valley neighborhoods got isn't the total, it's the timing. He says the deluge Scottsdale saw in several places Friday night, Oct. 30, is more like the thunderstorms we see when monsoons first hit in the summer. Funny how the desert likes surprises.
