- ➤ The Glendale Walmart Supercenter at 5010 N. 95th Ave reopened Dec. 12 after a $15-million remodel that added new customer amenities including extra grocery aisles, updated pharmacy layout, and a remodeled break room — store manager Joseph Champey noted the store also awarded over $9,000 in local grants. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Valley artist Johnny Morales updated the mural at 56th and Glendale avenues to honor Arizona sports legends, featuring Devin Booker, Charles Barkley, and others (approved by a city vote). He completed a month-long project to celebrate local sports history. AZ Family
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ In the new year, The Colonnade will host a Life Care 101 Workshop that explains how a Life Plan Community supports long-term care and asset protection; breakfast will be served and attendees must RSVP by January 12. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Vitalant will lead a four-day blood drive at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale from Saturday, Dec. 20 to Tuesday, Dec. 23 — available from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day near AMC Theatres, where donors receive a $10 gift card and an entry for a $20,000 giveaway. Glendale Independent
