- ➤ Earlier in October, Cox Communications, Larry Fitzgerald Foundation and Phoenix Raceway Charities hosted Beyond the Finish Line at Phoenix Raceway to boost STEM learning for eighth graders from Luke Elementary in Glendale—each student received a laptop and met Larry Fitzgerald. The event is expected to give students the tools they need to complete schoolwork at home and succeed in future studies. Glendale Independent
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Glendale announced Oct. 28 that it achieved a AAA bond rating on its excise tax debt from S&P Global Ratings — the highest level possible. City leaders said the rating lowers borrowing costs and reflects strong fiscal management and economic growth. Glendale Independent
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Kellis badminton finished its season Tuesday afternoon—earning its first home playoff match in four years—and lost 6-3 to the Phoenix Thunderbird. The Cougars have bigger goals that they will carry forward into the 2026 season. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Arizona's Children Association, Grand Canyon University Esports, and Arizona Cardinals have partnered to host a Mario Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament to raise funds for foster children. The two-day event runs Saturday, Nov. 15 from noon to 6 p.m. at Grand Canyon and Sunday, Nov. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at State Farm Stadium (free registration ends Friday, Nov. 14). Glendale Independent
