- ➤ Glendale’s free REC on Wheels program returned on Oct. 14 at Sunset Park to let children play sports and games with equipment like LEGO tables, flag football gear, baseball bases, basketballs, soccer nets, cornhole, and chess sets. The drop-off program—where parents can watch as kids play—will visit additional parks on Oct. 28, Oct. 29, and Oct. 30 to offer more chances for exercise and fun. The Glendale Star

- ➤ DICK’S Sporting Goods opened its first Arizona House of Sport in Glendale near Loop 101 and Maryland Avenue with visits from Diamondbacks star Corbin Carroll and Suns star Jalen Green. The over 100,000-square-foot store has an outdoor track, turf field and a multi-sport HitTrax cage — with real-time scores for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse — and will add 16 new locations nationwide in 2025. - ➤ There are 15 places in the Valley offering pre-made Thanksgiving meals with options ranging from herb-roasted turkey and sliced tenderloin to seafood platters, vegan entrees and festive sides. Customers will be able to order for pick-up or delivery and some venues like Fleming’s will serve their dinner menu on Thanksgiving Day—orders can be placed online or by phone—providing a convenient way for families to plan their holiday feast.
