- ➤ Drivers in the northwest Valley should use other routes this weekend because parts of Loop 101 are closed for pavement sealing and lighting work—southbound lanes close from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday and northbound lanes from 9 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday. In the East Valley, Loop 202 will be narrowed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for a widening project. AZ Family

- ➤ Deer Valley football won a hard-fought 24-23 home game against Lake Havasu on Oct.10 after key players suffered injuries early in the game. The Skyhawks built a 17-7 halftime lead and now expect tougher challenges as the season continues. Glendale Independent
