- ➤ Artisan elves at Royal Oaks LifeCare in Sun City are making wooden toys for children in need this Christmas – the nearly 12-member team will produce over 2,600 toys for local groups and charities, including recipients in Glendale. - ➤ Voters must mail in ballots by the deadline — the last day to send them — to decide on continuing Deer Valley Unified School District's 15% funding override that supports staff wages and extracurricular activities. Recent votes against the measure led to $11 million in cuts, nearly 50 staff positions lost, and higher fees for extracurriculars, while the override seeks to restore the original funding level.
