- ➤ Glendale, the Phoenix Suns and Mercury Foundation dedicated the Al McCoy Memorial Park and SHAZAM! Court near North 51st and West Olive Avenues to honor the longtime Suns broadcaster. The park features a new playground, improved irrigation, LED lighting and an upgraded sand volleyball court — a tribute that brought together McCoy’s family and local groups — and is set to serve the community for years to come. - ➤ Former Glendale High baseball players and coaches, mostly graduating in 1977 with a few from 1976, meet twice a year in a local garage to celebrate their shared school spirit. - ➤ The Arizona Ridge Riders prepare for a crucial weekend at Desert Diamond Arena as they aim to clinch the regular season title and secure a spot in the national championship in Las Vegas. Coach Colby Yates said the team is strong—bull rider Nick Tetz returned to riding after breaking his femur in March—and they face a tough schedule ahead. CW7 Arizona
- ➤ West Valley Preps Week 7 football games were held Oct. 10 with one game played Oct. 9 and teams including Liberty, O'Connor, Desert Edge, and Glendale Prep posted wins while others waited on byes. Other matchups featured close contests such as O'Connor winning 40-37 over Scottsdale Saguaro and decisive victories like Tucson Tanque Verde beating Highland Prep 57-0 — giving a broad look at the weekend's high school football action. - ➤ On Thursday night, the Sunnyslope Vikings defeated the Dobson Mustangs 38-7 in a 5A football game, with Kelton Rogers scoring three touchdowns and earning the Fiesta Bowl Player of the Game Belt.
