- ➤ Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers and partners will lead the 12th annual Stand Up for Veterans event at Arizona Christian University on Oct. 11, with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m. and services until 1 p.m. The event brings together city, state and federal agencies, local businesses and veteran organizations (VFW Post No. 1433) to offer free support services for veterans. - ➤ BMW will host a pop-up Ride and Drive Experience Sunday, Oct 12 at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale—West Valley residents can test drive electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel-powered models. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and drivers will get a thank-you gift while supplies last. Glendale Independent

- ➤ A bond election is set for November that will let voters decide on Prop409 to expand Valleywise Health services in Legislative District 26. The bond will add primary, pediatric and behavioral care while training local health workers—steps meant to support residents in a growing county. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Phoenix Children’s Hospital Arrowhead Campus hosted emergency preparedness drills on Oct. 1 with Glendale Fire Department — the Police SWAT team to practice responses for an active shooter and mass casualty incident. The exercise helped first responders learn and improve their coordinated efforts for future emergencies. The Glendale Star

- ➤ On Oct.7, Creation and QuarterMoore broke ground on Harbor Park, a 9.69-acre industrial complex in Glendale that is 67% leased to PODS. One building is custom-built for PODS while the other—a 54,499-square-foot speculative facility with 25 dock-high doors—is set to finish in the third quarter as developers donated $10,000 to Billy’s Place. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Former Philadelphia teammates Jonathan Gannon and Shane Steichen are now head coaches for the Cardinals and Colts respectively and will face off Sunday — a matchup built on mutual respect from their time together. Gannon said his Cardinals are dealing with injuries and close losses while Steichen will use creative plays to guide the Colts forward. Glendale Independent
