- ➤ Arizona Theatre Matters will present a staged reading of Even Unto Death—a new play by Jeanmarie Simpson—at 2 p.m. today at the Glendale Main Library on W. Brown St., offering a free performance that features voice actors and an Artistic Sign Language interpreter. After the show, a discussion with the creative team will gather feedback to shape a recorded version for a future debut. Glendale Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers, the Mayor’s Military Mission, and the Sandy Coor VFW Post No. 1433 will collaborate to continue his national flag flying tour by flying a locally made flag at the Arizona state capitol on Saturday, Oct 25 at 10 a.m.—the tour will finish in time for the United States’ 250th birthday on July 4. - ➤ Officials said as of Oct. 3 that the government shutdown is not affecting the social services at the GESD System of Care Center on 7677 W. Bethany Home Road, where mental health, substance abuse and juvenile justice support services continue to operate—services that began in August 2024. Glendale Independent
