BUSINESS NEWS

  • VAI Resort postponed its opening to an unspecified date and said an estimated date will be announced nine to 12 months before the resort is ready—this billion-dollar project has faced multiple timeline changes since its groundbreaking in 2021.  The Glendale Star
  • Lincoln Property Company announced on Oct. 1 that it sold a 1.25 million-square foot industrial building at Park303 in Glendale to Dollar Tree—marking the setup of its first metro Phoenix regional distribution center. The deal adds to a park that already hosts Walmart and Logisticus Group LLC.  Glendale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Stage Left Productions in Glendale will stage a reimagined version of Shakespeare's classic in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead on Friday, October 10—audiences know the main characters are fated to die as predicted by the story.  Glendale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Glendale City Council on Sept. 24 chose Chad Heywood as a City Judge in Glendale City Court — he will start on Oct. 16 — and he brings years of legal experience as a hearing officer and Judge Pro Tempore.  Glendale Independent
  • Residents from Arrowhead Ranch attended a bond meeting at Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center on Sept. 30 to learn about Glendale’s two-question, $65 million bond proposal. If approved by voters Nov. 4, question one will provide $30 million for flood control and water retention while question two will request $35 million to upgrade city operations—projects that will not directly affect the northern neighborhoods.  Glendale Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Arizona Cardinals placed running back Trey Benson on injured reserve after he hurt his knee, with coach Jonathan Gannon saying he will be out at least four weeks. The team will rely on Emari Demercado, Michael Carter, and Bam Knight to fill the gap after veteran James Conner missed time with a season-ending foot injury.  Glendale Independent
  • The Arizona Cardinals are moving their longtime training headquarters from Tempe to a new 30-acre facility in Paradise Ridge in North Phoenix—part of a 217-acre mixed-use development—to be completed in 2028, where both football and business operations will be housed.  Glendale Independent
