  • Tesla, Inc. opened its state-of-the-art Collision Center near Luke Air Force Base on Sept. 30 to provide electric vehicle repairs for local drivers including active-duty families and to ease service congestion in nearby areas. The center—located in The Base industrial development—is staffed by trained technicians who use original parts, offer a lifetime warranty, and update repair progress via the Tesla app.  Glendale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Former church president Russell M. Nelson died Sept 27 at his Salt Lake City home at 101 and was remembered by Arizona-born elder Jonathan Schmitt as pure kindness and pure love—he led the largest Glendale gathering of members in 2019 at State Farm Stadium and a public viewing is scheduled for Oct 6 with a funeral on Oct 7 at Temple Square.  The Arizona Republic

  • The District announced it earned a AAA bond rating and is making progress on bringing back the NHL—showing strong momentum as cooler fall days arrived.  Maricopa County

HEALTH NEWS

  • On December 18, 2024, Nikita Toney recalled her severe pain from a mistreated sickle cell crisis in a Mesa hospital during a Zoom meeting with the Glendale Sickle Cell Support Group and added that a CAT scan revealed vascular necrosis—evidence of damage from sickling reaching her bones. Toney, 50, had also experienced a stroke, pulmonary embolism, and a transient ischemic attack.  Glendale Independent

  • The SMX League announced the full 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship schedule, which includes a stop at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Saturday, Feb. 7, where FanFest will start at 9 a.m. and racing will follow; preferred customers can purchase tickets during the pre-sale until Oct. 6—public sales open at 10 a.m. on Oct. 7.  Glendale Independent
