- ➤ Billy’s Place received a $17,500 grant from New York Life on Sept. 25 to fund improvements for its soon-to-open new facility in northern Glendale and to launch a monthly grief education series for educators. The nonprofit will use the funds to add dedicated rooms and upgrade its space—doubling its capacity to support kids, teens and families in their grief. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Glendale unveiled the Al McCoy Memorial Park and SHAZAM! Court on Sept. 29 with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury Foundation joining the dedication to honor McCoy’s long service to the Suns—attendees included local school groups, family members, and community partners while celebrating the park’s features like a modern playground, upgraded sand volleyball court, LED lighting and irrigation. - ➤ Glendale will begin renovating Murphy Park in October following the Sept. 23 City Council workshop that refined plans for a new gazebo near City Hall—moving it from its former southeast corner. The move is a key part of the downtown re-imagination effort. Glendale Independent
