- ➤ Walter Station Brewery has partnered with the Arizona Animal Welfare League to release a limited edition pale ale — proceeds will support animal welfare programs. - ➤ Country music star Parker McCollum will perform in Glendale at Desert Diamond Arena on Saturday, Jan. 24 as part of his 2026 tour—tickets are available during a Citi presale until 10 p.m. today. Glendale Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Deer Valley Unified School District will seek a 15% Maintenance and Operations override this November to add $11 million for salaries, class sizes, and programs. Superintendent Curtis Finch said the override—aimed at supporting student services and reducing fees—will help the district stay strong despite budget cuts. The Glendale Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Glendale annexed a half-acre parcel at 81st and Myrtle avenues on Sept. 23 and senior planner Sydney Tirella said the land will serve as open space for a townhouse development — the council will consider annexing a 39-acre parcel at a future meeting to expand its western industrial zone. - ➤ Glendale voters will decide on two General Obligation bond measures in November—one for $30 million to fix flood control issues near Bethany Home Road, 43rd Avenue and Grand Avenue, and one for $35 million to repair the poorly maintained Operations Campus.
