- ➤ Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers announced the 12th annual Stand Up for Veterans event will be held on October 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Arizona Christian University. About 80 groups will offer resources such as housing, healthcare, legal help, and job fair opportunities to support veterans and their families. The Glendale Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a Sept 9 workshop, Glendale City Council laid out guidelines for a future ordinance on electric bikes and scooters—if consensus holds, riders of scooters must be at least 12 years old. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Glendale will hold a special bond election on Nov. 4 where residents will vote on two measures: one for up to $30 million to improve flood control and one for up to $35 million to fix city operations facilities such as the Field Operations Complex. If the bonds are not approved, the city will adjust its budget and may delay projects—details will be shared at open house meetings on Sept. 25, Sept. 30 and Oct. 2. The Glendale Star

- ➤ Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale will host a Vitalant blood drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 to help meet hospitals' need for 600 donors each day.
