  • Families have moved into Legacy Village—a container housing community built on church-owned land in central Glendale by Family Promise of Greater Phoenix. The six-unit development offers 640 square-foot, two-bedroom apartments at about $583 per month and features energy-efficient design and a community courtyard to support affordable housing needs.  Glendale Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ice Cube kicked off his first U.S. tour on September 4 and will perform at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Tuesday, September 30 while he prepares to release his new album Man Up on Friday, September 12—this tour marks a celebration of his 40-year career.  CW7 Arizona
  • Megyn Kelly announced a nationwide tour that will bring The Megyn Kelly Show live to audiences—stopping at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on November 22 at 7:30 p.m. as its final stop with guests including James Woods and Walter Kirn. The tour is presented by Yrefy.com and SiriusXM and will feature influential speakers discussing current news and culture.  Glendale Independent
  • Megyn Kelly will start her first national tour at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Saturday, Nov. 22—tickets are on presale with code DDA25 until 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.  The Arizona Republic

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Glendale ranked high nationally for economic growth in a study commissioned by CoworkingCafe—showing it ranked ninth overall among mid-sized cities. The study found a 1% increase in employment and a 1% drop in the unemployment rate, placing the city third and second in these categories respectively.  Glendale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Retired Glendale Cactus district councilmember Ian Hugh urged voters to approve two bond proposals this November; one plan will spend $30 million to fix street flooding and the other will spend $35 million to update the Operations Center at the Spring City Knitting Mill — neither will raise property taxes.  Glendale Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arizona Cardinals won a season opener 20—13 over New Orleans as quarterback Kyler Murray, who was ill, completed 21 of 29 passes and threw two touchdowns. The team is 1-0 for the first time since 2021 and will host Carolina Sunday.  Glendale Independent
