  • St. Mary's Food Bank is looking for volunteers as the holiday season nears to help deliver 300,000 meals daily and pack 100,000 food boxes a month—an effort that rescues food from 300 grocery stores and partners with 700 agencies across Arizona.  CW7 Arizona

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Glendale City Council debated the design of their offices during the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Process update, with some members asking to move from the garden level to the fourth floor. City Manager Phelps said the current setup meets privacy needs — and the council will review budget and space impacts as debates continue.  The Glendale Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arizona faces a shortage of blood supplies as drives dropped during the Labor Day weekend. Governor Hobbs declared Arizona Blood Donation Week (Sept 1-7) to boost donations while Vitalant holds daily drives at eight centers.  CW7 Arizona

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • VanTrust Real Estate announced its new industrial project, VT303 North, on Tuesday in western Glendale on a 66-acre site at the southwest corner of Northern Avenue and Reems Road. Construction will begin in December and the project will offer easy freeway access—connecting it to Loop 303 and Northern Parkway for modern logistics.  Glendale Independent

  • High school girls volleyball play began on Aug 27 and local coaches from Glendale and Peoria shared details about their teams, including key players, records and season goals. Coaches from the Cactus Cobras, Deer Valley Skyhawks, Peoria Panthers and Sunrise Mountain Mustangs outlined plans to build teamwork and aim for a championship win—providing a lively preview for the season.  Glendale Independent
