ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver was rescued from a pond after a two-car collision at 59th Avenue and Behrend Drive in Glendale when a red sedan struck a turning vehicle, and bystanders jumped into the water to remove the seatbelt and bring the driver to safety—both drivers were taken to the hospital and are not seriously injured.  AZ Family

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Desert Diamond Arena has been renovated with a $42M makeover to become a dedicated concert and entertainment venue that will host events like WWE shows, concerts and bull riding—Glendale officials say the design now offers easier access and new luxury suites for better fan experience—boosting the local scene.  The Glendale Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled that Arizona’s system to fund public schools was unconstitutional and needed reform—Judge Dewain Fox said many schools did not have enough money for repairs or proper safety measures. The decision may lead districts to change funding practices to improve conditions for students.  Glendale Independent

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Community Preservation Partners announced plans to renovate Tanner Terrace Apartments in Glendale to modernize 156 affordable senior housing units — the project will add an exercise room, upgraded appliances, and new systems while preserving affordability. These improvements will boost living standards for seniors.  The Glendale Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a joint practice on August 14th, the Cardinals and Broncos said that almost all starters will sit out Saturday’s preseason game so that backups can get work time. Broncos coach Sean Payton and Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed only a few players needing extra work will see limited action, and Cardinals tight end Trey McBride praised the session in his return to Colorado.  Glendale Independent
