- ➤ Glendale police charged a Wendy’s manager and her boyfriend with first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of employee Grant Siefert, whose body was found in a Glendale water retention area & records show he suffered 22 stab wounds and 14 incised wounds & he had filed an assault report against the manager before his death. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Glendale is working with Peoria and the Maricopa Association of Governments to boost school crossing safety for students as classes start soon. Students in districts such as Copper Canyon High, Deer Valley Unified, and Peoria Unified will return on July 31 while those in the Glendale Elementary and Glendale Union High districts begin on Aug. 4—Glendale traffic education program manager Cassandra Johnston leads the effort. - ➤ The Verde River Water Storage project plans to raise Bartlett Dam by 100 feet to restore 50,000 acre-feet of lost capacity from sediment buildup and secure storage for up to 1 million households. Local agencies including Glendale will hold virtual and in-person public meetings from Jul. 28 to Aug. 1 while accepting feedback through Aug. 11 as part of the National Environmental Policy Act review.
