CRIME NEWS
- ➤ First responders arrived Thursday afternoon at Bonsall Park near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale — where a body was found in the lake and the person was pronounced dead at the scene — while police began investigating the cause. ABC 15
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On June 24, Glendale City Council approved a plan for the library advisory board to get mock-ups and cost estimates for remodeling or relocating Velma Teague Library in Murphy Park—some councilmembers want the library to remain in the park while others keep relocation as an option—and the council will reconvene in September to review the next steps. The Glendale Star
- ➤ Arizona leaders said on Thursday that the new Turquoise Alert system will help find missing people under 65 by sending alerts to televisions, radios and cellphones when law enforcement resources are exhausted. The system fills a gap left by Amber and Silver Alerts and is designed especially to help locate missing Native Americans (and others in danger). KTAR
