  • Karianne Munstedt launched Strategic Impact Partners to help women-led and socially focused companies share their true stories using photography and smart plans—she grew up in Glendale and attended ASU West.   • Chef Mario Hernández Alonso has opened a taco pop-up at Westgate Entertainment District from June 26 to 29—serving his famous dishes such as Taco Gaonera, Taco Costilla and Taco Chuleta. The pop-up is open from noon to 10 p.m. and offers the only Michelin Star tacos in the world.  AZ Family

CRIME NEWS

  • Aprile Cardon, the sister of Matthew Cardon who was fatally shot on June 5 by Peoria police after an alleged kidnapping attempt, said he was a caring nurse with mental illness — and she calls for body camera footage to show his true character.  The Glendale Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maricopa County Human Services Department has used ARPA funding to launch the Refugee Relocation Assistance Program that gives refugees help with housing, job training and health services to overcome challenges worsened by COVID. Local community partners will work with refugees to improve language skills and build self-sufficiency—supporting a stronger local community.  Maricopa County
  • In Maricopa County, a public-private partnership with Threshold has added 611 rental properties that accept housing vouchers to help families move off the streets—3,300 households have already secured permanent homes near jobs and support networks. The program, funded by pandemic relief and general funds, offers property owners financial incentives — making safe housing more available for our community.  Maricopa County
  • The Maricopa County Human Services Department improved its contract approval process by introducing The Triangle— a system that assigns clear roles to staff in Programs, Finance, and Contracts to speed up agreements for services like affordable housing and homelessness initiatives. The new process reduced delays and stress by setting defined timelines and eliminating bottlenecks so that contracts are processed faster for residents.  Maricopa County
  • Maricopa County Board of Supervisors hired an outside firm—BerryDunn—to review the county's election process after a decision made on Thursday. The firm will examine chain of custody, security, vote center selection and ballot drop box usage, with the contract running through June 30, 2026 and parts expected to be completed by fall.  KTAR
