CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested 24-year-old Robert Cheatham on Tuesday morning at an apartment complex near 6600 W. Glendale Avenue after a fight escalated into a stabbing where a man suffered about seven wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries expected to be non-life-threatening.  KTAR
  • Three Glendale residents were arrested by DPS for their role in an organized vehicle theft ring detected during Operation Escalading Switch—an effort on June 17 that recovered 29 stolen vehicles valued at nearly $2.5 million and seized items linked to the crime.  The Glendale Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Glendale council met with the library advisory board to outline plans for Velma Teague Library's future this fall—no final decision has been reached. Further discussions will shape the library's direction as community needs are reviewed.  Glendale Independent
  • On June 10, the Glendale City Council approved an $1.46 billion budget for fiscal year 2025–26 with $710 million for operations and $478 million for capital improvements aimed at boosting public safety, upgrading water meters, and improving traffic signals. The budget also funds a new mini soccer pitch and additional basketball courts while keeping property taxes unchanged for the tenth year.  Glendale Independent
