- ➤ A deadly crash closed westbound lanes on Loop 101 near 59th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Monday - flooding also affected nearby roads. AZ Family

- ➤ Pita Jungle finished an interior remodel at its Arrowhead area location (7530 W. Bell Road) near Arrowhead Towne Center, updating the space with new furniture, cozy indoor greenery, increased padded leather seating, ambient lighting and a new TV in the bar area. The restaurant will offer a $35 dine-in special from 5 p.m. to close on Mondays and Tuesdays. Glendale Independent

- ➤ Glendale Police detectives arrested 27-year-old James Marshaun Christopher Weekly on May 29 for the stabbing death of 62-year-old Judy Ann Lopez on April 28 at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road — Weekly admitted to stabbing her in the neck with a metal pen and taking her cell phone. - ➤ Grammy-winning singer Laufey will perform on Sept. 23 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale with Suki Waterhouse opening, and her album A Matter of Time will be released on Aug. 22. Ticket presales for VIP packages start at 10 a.m. today while general sales begin at 10 a.m. on June 6—one dollar per ticket will go to The Laufey Foundation to support youth orchestras. - ➤ Glendale Community College is breaking ground on a new Innovation Lab in the northeast corner of its campus, a project led by Susan Campbell and Elena Beltran that will boost programs in engineering, robotics, and tech. - ➤ Deer Valley Unified School District will ask voters to decide on the sale of just under 20 acres of land donated two decades ago — the sale is valued at $4M. Residents will cast their ballots on the proposal in an upcoming election. Glendale Independent
- ➤ The westbound lanes of Loop 101 in the West Valley reopened Monday morning at the Beardsley/Union Hills exit + officials said standing water at 75th Avenue had caused the closure after overnight flooding. Glendale Independent
