- ➤ At the Open state track and field meet on May 17, Annabelle Nally won the shotput with a first throw of 43 feet, 1.5 inches after finishing fifth in the discus. Glendale Prep’s Sophia Boonzaaijer struggled with fouls in the discus and a low shotput throw—her coach said she would refocus for upcoming competitions. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Mountain Ridge junior Samel Eminovic (competing in the 110 and 300 hurdles at the AIA Open State Track & Field Championships on May 16-17) placed third in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles as he learned to adjust for windy conditions and tougher competition.
