  • Wespac Construction finished the first phase of a 51-acre industrial park on Northern Parkway — the project includes six buildings totaling 445,000 square feet with features such as tilt panels and wall wash lighting. The site faced geotechnical challenges from a large fissure zone that required extra excavation and water mitigation.  KTAR

CRIME NEWS

  • On May 10th, Marisol Oliva-Valenzuela shared memories of shooting victim Milo Suniga at a Glendale car wash that raised funds for his funeral.  The Arizona Republic
  • Derek Molina recorded a fight and then the sound of gunfire on May 4 at El Camaron Gigante during Glendale’s On A Sunday Afternoon event—he also helped an injured man and posted two videos that police now use to search for persons of interest.  The Arizona Republic

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sixty-five libraries in Maricopa County are joining the Summer Reading Program—titled 'Color Our World'—which starts June 1 to help kids and families read and learn. Participants earn points by reading and joining events, with prizes at 500, 750, and 1,000 points.  Glendale Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On May 1, Glendale opened multiple heat relief centers at locations such as the Glendale Mission & Ministry Center and Street John’s Lutheran Church to provide water, snacks, and case management for vulnerable residents. The city partnered with local faith groups and the Maricopa Association of Governments to offer several cooling and hydration stations with set operating hours — including one center opening May 15 — to reduce heat-related illnesses.  The Glendale Star
