  • Glendale police said 62-year-old Judy Lopez from Phoenix was found stabbed at 9:15 p.m. Monday near 83rd Avenue and Cardinals Way—her family and officers are asking anyone with useful details to come forward after photos were released of a bald Hispanic man in a grey long-sleeve shirt seen nearby.  AZ Family
  • A Glendale police officer who fatally shot the wrong man earlier this year will not face criminal charges after the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office determined there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction— the officer remains on administrative assignment while an internal review checks if procedures were followed.  KTAR

  • Midwestern University's Glendale campus drove economic growth and healthcare education in Maricopa County and contributed $767 million to the local economy during 2023-24 — a study by Applied Economics shows that its spending, local vendor purchases, and visitor expenditures supported thousands of jobs, expanded planned construction projects, and bolstered five healthcare clinics serving nearly 140,000 patients annually.   • Glendale voters will decide whether to uphold the city council’s decision to approve a 10-acre section for the VAI Resort development—ballots have been mailed out amid a challenge that could delay the resort’s planned 2026 opening.   • Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is cracking down on vendors selling THC-infused products without a valid marijuana license after letters gave companies until April 24 to comply, and law enforcement will now impose penalties—despite an ongoing lawsuit from the hemp industry.  KTAR

  • Maricopa County Department of Public Health and the Maricopa Association of Governments are launching the Heat Relief Network today to offer free cooling centers, hydration stations, and support services to help residents beat extreme heat.
