  • Glendale voters will decide on May 20 whether a 10-acre site near State Farm Stadium will be rezoned for the VAI Resort project (a $1 billion development planned to include four hotels, performance venues, a white-sand beach and 12 restaurants). VAI Resort’s CEO said the project is expected to create over 2,000 jobs and $2 billion in economic impact (a loss could delay its end-of-year opening) while a local labor group urges a review of the city council decision, citing concerns that the rezoning favors corporate use rather than green space.  AZ Family
  • Barbara Limmer found that her father’s Social Security payments vanished when his death was mistakenly recorded as occurring in February 2024 instead of February 2025—a mistake that led to 12 monthly debits until the error was corrected and all funds were returned. The incident unfolded after her father, who almost reached his 98th birthday, passed away in February.  AZ Family
  • Glendale city staff briefed the council on growing consumer demand for faster internet and the challenges of limited right-of-way, noting that agreements with companies like (Cox, APS, EPCOR, and SRP) are already in place while new deals are underway.
