- ➤ New reciprocal tariffs have pushed consumers to seek secondhand deals as auction houses expect a surge in bids—driven by rising new goods prices. Glendale-based EJ’s Auction & Appraisal announced an automotive, motorcycle and ATV auction on Saturday, April 26 that will feature a rare 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary Edition. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Aligned Data Centers broke ground on a new Glendale data center PHX-13 on Tuesday — the first of four planned facilities on a 100-acre site. A 230 kV transmission line from Arizona Public Service will support the 72-megawatt facility’s energy needs — city officials say the project is set to boost the local economy while addressing sustainability concerns. - ➤ Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas Galvin said in a Tuesday letter that the DOJ should end its oversight of the Phoenix Police Department because he believes the report was driven by politics. He added that local officials are working to improve the department—while noting that oversight of the sheriff’s office under a federal judge raises legal and budget concerns. KTAR
- ➤ Firefighters from across central Arizona held the annual Central Arizona Wildland Response Team training at Lake Pleasant on March 26 to prepare for a tough wildfire season.
