- ➤ Historic Downtown Glendale and Catlin Court will host the annual Sidewalk Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The event brings sales from local boutiques on fashion, jewelry, and home goods (with local restaurants offering varied dining options) for a walkable weekend. Glendale Independent
- ➤ Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale is getting trailhead improvements to add new restrooms, shade structures and signage. One trailhead (59th Avenue) closed on April 6 will remain shut until December while all sites are projected to reopen in February 2027. The Glendale Star
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Glendale announced its 2026–27 Performing Arts Grant application window and has been accepting applications since April 1 (applications close May 31). The grant will support music, theatre, dance and spoken word projects with performances planned from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31. Glendale Independent

- ➤ Glendale Prep’s Metal Masters (the robotics team that won the state championship last month) will compete at the FIRST Championship in Houston later this month; the team is refining its high-speed robot and relying on student-led innovation to advance on the global stage. The Glendale Star
- ➤ Glendale Community College will house the new regional security operations center selected by the Arizona Department of Homeland Security as part of a statewide cybersecurity program, leveraging its student-run lab to build the region’s cybersecurity workforce. KTAR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is widening Loop 101 from 75th Ave to Interstate 17 and will close the freeway’s westbound lane from Apr. 10 to Apr. 12. Drivers should use alternate routes during the project. Glendale Independent
