- ➤ Bezos Academy will open its first tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool at Desert Garden Elementary School in Glendale this August—serving children ages 3 to 5 from families earning up to 400% of the poverty level. - ➤ Deep cuts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration may weaken weather forecasts in Arizona for haboobs, monsoons, flash flooding and wildfires—data critical for keeping residents safe during extreme weather. Since one in 10 employees was lost through firings and buyouts and another 10% cut is proposed—experts warn that reduced weather balloon launches could undermine timely warnings. KTAR
