- ➤ Glendale’s Parks and Recreation Department launches its free REC on Wheels program today at several parks—starting at Cholla Park from 3 to 5 p.m.—to offer children games such as chess, LEGO building, and flag football gear near local schools. - ➤ Shape Up Us, a Scottsdale-based nonprofit, will host its World’s Largest Pickleball Lesson & Ninja Warrior Full Course event on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Foothills Park (5708 W. Union Hills Drive) in Glendale and has partnered with the city, Monster Athletes Juniors and USA Pickleball to use donations to sponsor The Hip Hop Healthy Program for Children Curriculum. - ➤ Cactus High School student body officers are renovating a pond at the atrium on the Glendale campus to leave a lasting legacy. They partnered with Banner Health and Arizona Game & Fish to support the project when their budget proved insufficient—ensuring the renovation moves forward. Glendale Independent

- ➤ Glendale’s planning and zoning commission recommended approval of Envision Encore on March 27; the proposed mixed-use project will include apartments, retail, and possible hotel space near the southwest corner of 99th Avenue and Ballpark Boulevard, just across the 101 freeway from State Farm Stadium—adding to the growth in the local sports and entertainment district. The development will boost nearby attractions and build on recent advancements in the area. ABC 15

- ➤ Arizona teens may lack money classes in school since only five states require personal finance courses, leaving many unprepared for major expenses. A simulation from First Credit Union offers teens ages 13 to 19 a chance to manage a fake salary — practicing budgeting, saving and paying bills — to build practical money skills. - ➤ Glendale police showed ABC15 their Drone First Responder program as a drone reached a potential crime scene faster than patrol officers—its 35 mph speed and real-time video help adjust officer responses. The department plans to station seven drones on city buildings to improve situational awareness while respecting privacy limits. ABC 15
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Revenue announced that its annual online auction of unclaimed property will begin tomorrow at noon and end April 13, offering items such as safe deposit boxes—sold to the highest bidders—jewelry, coins, currency and collectibles. Proceeds from the auction will be placed into an account for rightful owners to claim their funds. KTAR
