  • The Arizona Justice Center in Glendale will host a silent auction fundraiser on Feb. 20 at Orangewood Presbyterian Church to raise $300,000 for expanding support for vulnerable residents (backed by local donors and partnerships). Founders Rhonda and Joe Charles aim to broaden services to homeless, veterans, and others in need.  The Glendale Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Grace Kary, an eighth grader from Copperwood Elementary in Glendale, won the Peoria Unified School District spelling bee on Thursday, Jan. 22 by correctly spelling nautilus in the 13th round against 32 other students.  Glendale Independent
  • For the fourth year, the Arizona Board of Regents and Cactus League have partnered to offer free spring training tickets to Arizona high school seniors (class of 2026) who complete the 2026–27 FAFSA via CollegeReadyAZ. Tickets are available for games from Feb. 20 through March 24.  The Glendale Star

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arizona Autism United opened its new diagnostic center (7170 W. Camino San Xavier C) in Glendale on Jan. 22 to speed up autism testing, therapy, and training for West Valley families. The center helps reduce wait times and improve service access for those in need.  Glendale Independent

  • The Record Breakers festival will host high-octane world-record attempts in surfing, skateboarding, BMX, moto, and trophy trucks on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Revel Surf Park from 9:00 a.m. + 9:00 p.m.  Glendale Independent
